Compress GIF online

Animated GIFs are huge because every frame stores its own image. Lower the frame rate, the size and the palette and the file collapses — usually by 60–80%, with the animation intact.

Your files never leave your browser

How to use

  1. 1

Pick a compression level — Medium suits most GIFs.

  2. 2

Drop your GIF into the box, or click to choose it.

  3. 3

Download the smaller GIF, or process several and grab a ZIP.

FAQ

How much smaller will it get?

Typically 60–80%. Light keeps the full size and palette, Medium halves the resolution-heavy parts, Heavy is for chat and email limits.

Will the animation still loop?

Yes. Frame timing and looping are preserved; only the frame rate, dimensions and colour count change.

Is the GIF uploaded?

No. FFmpeg runs as WebAssembly in your browser.

Why does the quality drop with Heavy?

It cuts the palette to 64 colours and halves the dimensions. Gradients band; flat graphics and screen recordings survive it well.

Should I use a video instead?

For anything over a few seconds, yes — an MP4 is far smaller. Use Convert video to GIF in reverse only where GIF is required.
