Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The segmentation model (ISNet) runs locally through WebAssembly. The image never leaves your device.
Why does the first image take longer?
The AI model is downloaded once (about 45 MB) and cached by your browser. Later runs skip the download and take a few seconds each.
What works best?
Photos with a clear subject: people, pets, products, cars. Very fine details such as hair strands or glass may need manual touch-up.
Which format is the result?
Always PNG with a transparent background, at the original resolution. Use PNG to JPG if you need a solid colour behind the subject.
Is there a limit?
Files up to 30 MB. Very large images use a lot of memory during processing; on phones, images under 12 megapixels are safest.
Is it really free, without a watermark?
Yes. Because everything runs on your device, there is no server cost to pass on — no watermark, no sign-up, no limits on the number of images.
