FAQ
Which languages can it translate from?
All 99 Whisper supports, detected automatically. Spanish, Russian, German, French, Portuguese and Japanese come out best; rarer languages are weaker.
Can it translate into languages other than English?
No. Whisper translates only into English. For other target languages, transcribe first and run the text through a translator.
How good is the translation?
Good enough to follow a talk or subtitle a clip, and noticeably better than subtitles auto-translated twice over. It is not a substitute for a professional translator on legal or marketing copy.
Is my file uploaded?
Yes — the model is far too large for a browser tab. It runs on our servers and the media is deleted as soon as the result is ready.
Is there a limit?
One translation a day without an account, up to 10 minutes of media. Premium raises it to 45 minutes per file with no daily limit.
