FAQ
How does browser-based PDF compression work?
Each page is rendered as an image, then re-encoded as a JPEG at the chosen quality and placed into a new PDF. This reduces the size of image-heavy documents significantly.
Will I lose text quality?
Text is rasterized into images, so very small text may become slightly less crisp. For scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs this approach works great. Text-only PDFs are already compact and cannot get smaller this way; in that case the original file is returned unchanged.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 100 MB are supported. Very large files may take longer on mobile devices.
Are my files uploaded?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using PDF.js and pdf-lib. Nothing is sent over the network.
